You lie there on the massage table, exotic aromas fill the room, the therapist’s warm hands glide over the skin, and then BUMP! There IT appears. The wonderful little knots that seem to embody the very things that chased you into the massage room in the first place! Sam doesn’t ignore these little disturbances, but rather addresses each tight area as a part of a dysfunctional system.
This is the essence of tensegrity found in the human body: soft tissue (connective tissue and muscles) must have flexibility to attain proper tension around the integrity of bones/joints. Therefore, if one part is bound up, another area will be pulled out of whack, and there cascades a multitude of problems. Poor posture, muscle and joint pain, and headaches are examples of what can happen when tensegrity is lost in your body.
